In recent times quinoa has gained prominence in our dishes for its multiple benefits and its simplicity when cooking it. It is a pseudocereal from South America that could be compared to couscous although, unlike it, quinoa is a grain and not a type of pasta.
If you’re thinking about changing your breakfast routine, this superfood is, without a doubt, one of the best options. Quinoa is incredibly satiating, rich in iron, potassium, calcium, magnesium, vitamins, and antioxidants. And these are not all its benefits! In addition, it will give you a lot of energy to face the day and will help you forget about constipation since it contains a large amount of fiber.
And you may be wondering: And how can I introduce quinoa into my daily diet? Can I include it in my breakfasts? Of course! There are plenty of easy quinoa breakfast recipes for every day that won’t take you long and will help you stay on track. We’ll tell you! Points!
Simple recipes for breakfast with quinoa
Put on your apron, collect all the ingredients, get down to work and enjoy your breakfast!
1Quinoa with yogurt and berries
A good way to start the day with a lot of energy is the mixture of yogurt, berries and quinoa.
What ingredients do you need?
+A quarter cup of quinoa (uncooked)
+A skimmed yogurt
+Strawberries, blueberries, raspberries…
+Nuts
Step by step
In a saucepan put the quarter cup of quinoa and mix it with a cup of water. Let cook for 15 minutes. You will know that it is ready because it will have grown and, in addition, it will have become transparent.
Take out the quinoa and let it cool a little. Then, mix it with the yogurt and add a little agave syrup or stevia to sweeten it. Finally chop the red fruits and walnuts on top.
2Quinoa with milk
Are you a fan of rice pudding? This recipe with quinoa looks a lot like it and is a great breakfast to start the day in a positive way.
Ingredients
+50 grams of quinoa
+100 ml. water
+425 ml milk
+Half a lemon
+40 grams of sugar
+Cinnamon stick and ground
Step by step
First, cook the quinoa and, when it is ready and the water has evaporated, lower the temperature. Next, add the cinnamon stick, the lemon rind (completely eliminates the white part so that it does not bitter) and the milk. Let it start to boil over low heat stirring without stopping. Calculate approximately 40 minutes of cooking and then add the sugar and stir for a while longer.
From here, we will continuously monitor the texture of quinoa. You should turn off the heat when you get the texture that you like best (liquid or a little thicker). If you are one of those who like something thicker, one tip is to let it reduce milk for longer. Of course, keep in mind that, when it cools, it will thicken even more.
Finally, turn off the heat, remove the cinnamon stick and lemon and distribute in bowls sprinkling a little ground cinnamon on top. Let’s have breakfast!
3Quinoa with cinnamon and apple
Ingredients
+A quarter cup of quinoa
+Half a cup of skim milk
+Vanilla extract
+A teaspoon of ground cinnamon
+An apple
+Honey
Step by step
The first thing is to cook the quinoa with the proportion that we have mentioned above. When it is ready, cover it with a tea towel so that it finishes absorbing the water.
Meanwhile, wash the apple, cut it and set it aside. In a bowl pour the warm milk, vanilla, cinnamon and honey. Stir and mix well so that a homogeneous mixture remains.
Take the glass bowl or jar in which we will have breakfast and add a little of our mixture, some quinoa and a few pieces of apple. We keep repeating the process until it is completely filled. Ready!
