
One of the most acute, persistent and annoying ailments that we can suffer is migraine. Very strong headache that can incapacitate us to perform any task. As anyone who suffers from it will know, there is no completely effective way to combat or cure it, even with the help of the specific medication that has been created to date.
There are several causes that can lead to the appearance of these headaches: little sleep, hormonal factors, allergies, stress or sugar drops. Food can play an essential role in preventing ongoing migraine attacks. It is not that there is a specific diet to alleviate the appearance of this disease, but there are a number of foods that should be avoided.
Foods that favor the appearance of migraines or headache
A research recently carried out by the Spanish Society of DAO Deficiency, in collaboration with the Capio General Hospital of Catalonia, has established that there is a direct relationship between the appearance of migraines and the deficiency of an enzyme called Di Amino Oxidase (DAO) in the body. One of the functions of this enzyme is to degrade histamine, a molecule contained and provided by some foods.
If we do not have a suitable amount of DAO, histamine manages to reach the blood and cause the dreaded migraine. Although there are specific drugs that are efficient in the generation of this enzyme in the body, there are a number of foods that we can take less regularly and, in this way, enhance the effects against histamine.
Excessive consumption of dairy products and dairy products, citrus fruits such as strawberries and oranges, tomatoes, canned tuna, non-fresh meat (preserved in the refrigerator for more than two days) or seafood make it possible to ingest large amounts of histamine and, therefore, the risk of migraines is increased . Although to a lesser extent, the release of high doses of this molecule also occurs with oily fish, sausage, sobrasada, butter and egg white.
It is advisable, therefore, along with exhaustive medical supervision, is the realization of a diet through which it is possible to control the excesses of foods that may increase the chances of suffering from migraines.
