Drinking water and other liquids is essential for our body, because we need them as much as food. On many occasions, it is believed that during meals it is better not to drink anything, this is not correct. It is as important to drink liquids, preferably water, during the meal as outside of meals. It is recommended by specialists to drink a total of 2 liters of liquids daily. This does not only refer to water, but to all the liquids we ingest throughout the day.

It is advisable to eat at meals and outside of them

Water acts in several ways in digestion. First of all, we must be aware that water occupies a lot of volume in the stomach, so if children drink a lot of water when they do not like food they end up filling up before. For this purpose it is also used by people who are dietary, for example, since the water satisfies but does not fill, unless liquids are retained. In case you want to gain weight, due to extreme thinness, you can avoid drinking water or liquids, in general, during meals. This way you will not get too tired and you will be able to eat more quantity.

On the other hand, water dilutes nutrients. This means that it is responsible for physically separating them and transports them to the digestive process. A meal without water can be heavy on the stomach and even painful. A meal with excess water can present the same result: heaviness. We have to get the intermediate point of amount of water to ingest at meals, without ending up producing a feeling of fullness too important. For this reason it is not advisable to drink more than two liters of water a day, as people who do so can suffer from loss of nutrients in the urine. The elimination of water not only carries with it the water that goes to the kidney, but many more substances necessary for the well-being of our body.
