Being thin may be one of the most desired fantasies for many women, but it doesn’t always meet expectations. Some women of especially thin constitution find problems when it comes to gaining those extra kilos, especially if we want to achieve it by following a healthy diet.
Thinness can be as complicated to treat as obesity, and requires attention and care to ensure that a complete diet is followed that provides all the necessary nutrients. In addition, a hypercaloric diet must be balanced with physical exercise and, if stress problems are involved, relaxation techniques such as yoga.
How to eat if you want to gain weight
When starting a hypercaloric diet it is important to do it in an organized way and under the supervision of a nutritionist. The reasons can range from malnutrition to diseases such as hyperthyroidism and diabetes, so a hypercaloric diet is not only about consuming one, more food or abusing fats or junk food, but about following appropriate guidelines that help us gain weight gradually.
A hypercaloric diet should increase calories progressively, achieving that with the amounts a feeling of satiety is achieved that does not reach excess. The key is mainly in carbohydrates such as rice or pasta, which should be part of the main meals accompanied by light sauces. Fats can be included to a lesser extent, better if they are raw such as olive oil, and proteins, from white meats, eggs and dairy products such as cheese.
Vegetables should be consumed cooked instead of raw whenever possible, so that the feeling of satiety decreases and allows us to increase the quantities. For the same reason it is recommended not to accompany the main meal with too many starters (soups, creams, salads etc.) that decrease appetite. Sweets can be consumed in moderation, and it is advisable to avoid carbonated drinks that fill the stomach but do not contribute anything to the diet.
