The food industry has suffered, in recent decades, a great and profuse transformation due to the modifications in daily routines and, above all, to the shortage of time that we frequently suffer. Current work models require workers to do long hours outside the habitual residence, so the availability to prepare meals is not always enough.
This lack of time causes us to regularly resort to artificial foods, often of dubious quality, which can contain potentially dangerous components for our body, especially in the elderly, children and pregnant women. For the elaboration of this type of industrial products, dyes, preservatives, pesticides, transgenic products or hormones can be used.
Food producers can threaten our health
A group of international researchers has carried out a report entitled ‘Profits and pandemics: prevention of harmful effects of tobacco, alcohol and ultra-processed food and drink industrie’. According to this group of professors and doctors from various countries such as Australia, the United Kingdom and Brazil, large food companies such as Nestlé, Kraft, Pepsico, Mars or Tesco have generated, through their products, a large and progressive epidemic of serious diseases such as cardiovascular diseases, cancer or diabetes.
These scholars appeal to a rigorous control in the consumption of this type of food as the only effective method of reducing mortality rates among consumers. These large companies, always according to the report, have as their sole objective the marketing of their products and for this they resort to very aggressive advertising strategies that, ultimately, urge their purchase and intake.
Natural products as an alternative?
It is obvious to capture that the preparation at home of food is the ideal method to dispense with the consumption of any kind of industrial food. The traditional model of the cake can undoubtedly avoid many dislikes in the form of nutritional imbalances.
The consumption of fresh and natural products seems, therefore, the best way to maintain a healthy diet. In addition, it can always be combined with the maintenance of a weekly menu planning that we eat daily. And, of course, go to our trusted supermarket and collect the food with which we are going to cook our favorite dishes. In this way, we will consume meals with a higher nutritional content and, probably, in the short term we can make our diet much cheaper at the same time as healthy and balanced.
