A healthy diet is one that provides us with the necessary nutrients for the regeneration of our body and that in turn minimizes foods harmful to our health. The best diets contain carbohydrates (whole grains, bread, pasta, brown rice, potatoes, legumes, etc.), lots of fruit and vegetables (contain fiber, vitamins and minerals), unrefined vegetable oils and oily fish. Dairy, meat and eggs should be consumed eventually; But others, such as sugar and saturated fat, should be avoided.
The tupperware: homemade food away from home
There are many diets that help to follow a healthy and balanced diet. However, when our pace of life depends on work schedules and we are forced to eat out every day, it is difficult to follow a diet that is not too harmful to our body. When we must eat out we have two options: we can go to the restaurant, or prepare our own food and take it in a container to work. The second option, besides cheap, is the healthiest.
How to get organized
The problems we all face when we choose to take our tupperware to work are what we take and how we do it. If our method is to decide the day before what we want to eat or cook, the truth is that we will lose a lot of time and, surely, we will end up eating in an unbalanced way. So, first of all we must organize ourselves to design our eating plan.
First we must decide what foods we are going to include in our diet and, depending on what they are, we can decide what dishes we are going to cook during the week. Then we can organize these dishes within a weekly planning. So, for example, if what we want is a balanced diet, we must include foods such as vegetables, legumes, cereals and fruit.
So, we can imagine different dishes that combine these foods: Cuban rice, lentil salad, Neapolitan macaroni, potato salad, etc. Once we have decided the dishes, we can assign them a day of the week, so we will know what we have to eat each day and we will not have to decide it the day before.
As for the problem of when to cook, it will depend on our schedule. If we have a stressful rhythm that leaves us exhausted when we get home at night, we can cook during the weekend, store the dishes in a tupperware and keep them in the refrigerator or freezer. If, on the other hand, we come home with enough energy and desire to cook, we can prepare the dishes the day before.
Some tricks
Many times, people who prepare their own tupperware fall into the routine of always preparing the same type of food: pasta, rice or salad. If we put a little imagination, we can avoid falling into monotony and introduce more exotic or less common ingredients in our kitchen to make our diet even more varied. Thus, for example, couscous is a good substitute for the typical pasta, as well as easy to prepare and healthy.
When making our weekly planning, it is important that we know if we have a refrigerator or a microwave to keep or heat our tupperware. If we do not have the first, we should avoid bringing fresh salads, eggs or mayonnaise. If we do not have a microwave, we must take into account which are those dishes that can be just as tasty if we consume them at room temperature. Nor should we forget the dessert that, as far as possible, should always be a piece of fruit.
